First Socratic Seminar

1. What puzzles me is that Biff still lives at home and does not want to get a real job.

Biff still lives at home because he probably does not have enough money to move out and he does not want to get a different job because he likes his job.

2. Do you agree that the problems of a person with a low social status are as important as the problems of a person with a high social status?

I do agree that the problems are equally important because the social status does not influence that.

3. I'd like to talk with people about why the author chose a salesman as his protagonist.

The author chose a salesman as a protagonist because he represents a normal American person from the middle class.

4. Don't you think that his dream is similar to the American Dream?

Yes I do think that because his dream is to have more success at his job to get more money and to have good relationships to his family members.

5. Do you think that Willy Loman represents a person with a low social status?

No because Willy Loman is not a person with a low social status because he is from the middle class.
